Trains over planes, I promise!

To get to Edinburgh, it's a connecting flight through London or a train. I obviously wanted a Hogwarts Express experience and thought it would be nice to have extra days in London on the front and back ends of the trip.

It's about 4 hours each way depending on the times, but the scenery is reason alone to do it! You travel alongside the coast, entering (and leaving Edinburgh) and through rolling hills and farmland as you get closer to London. (Not gonna lie, it makes me want to go horseback riding in a ballgown through a field to some dramatic soundtrack.) Anyway, there's no shortage of free snacks and drinks, with First Class tickets costing about £80 ($110). There are also tickets (Kings Cross to/from Edinburgh) as low as £44 each way.

Next time, I think I'll do a sleeper train. Not only is it relatively the same price, but you also don't waste part of your day. Instead, you wake up where you wanna be!

Traveling by train was one of the easiest things ever, but here are some tips either way:

Traveling with luggage isn't much of a struggle, to be fair, I did start both trips at the very first stop, so there was no shortage of space. Don't worry too much about someone taking your bag, but do properly tag your items. Also, the heavier and bigger your bag is, the less likely it is someone can actually carry it off of the train. (Kidding, but maybe not)

Get to the station early, but not too early; they generally won't let you into your car until 15-ish beforehand. But if you're catching a train during one of the stops, definitely be sure you're at the right platform, so you don't miss it!

Pre-select your seats; it's a requirement anyway. But the earlier you do, it's less likely you're sitting backward or next to someone.

Bring some m.f. Dramamine, if you get any motion sickness when traveling, you'll thank me.

Some trains have food service, some don't, so come prepared with water and a few snacks anyway.

Bring chargers; most cars have charging ports (don't forget adapters!) at every seat and free wifi! It's the perfect spot to get work done or binge some shows.

Otherwise, sit back, relax and enjoy public transportation for once. Europe is known for it for a reason!
