Meet me on the corner of Morally Grey and 6-foot-4...

I've always enjoyed reading but as school assignments strayed farther into boring and old, I fell out of love with it. Nothing like a global pandemic and a TikTok addiction coming together to cure that. Special, special thanks to BookTok for leading these men to my metaphorical doorstep.

Complete with enemies-to-lovers, love triangles, and the ever perfect one-bed trope these are some of my favorites to break you out of that reading slump.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

“You would've probably been more useful to the world if you'd actually died ten years ago.”

8 books, unlimited book boyfriends (and girlfriends). They take a little bit of time to get into but nothing warms the heart like a 300 year old Fae warrior telling you to go and die. I promise. It's such a fantastic series that I was torn between wanting to know the ending and wishing it would go on forever. As problematic as SJM can be, she knows how to write a good book and with characters from princes to fire-breathing-bitch-queens, you'll swoon pretty quickly.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

There you are. I've been looking for you.”

Ok don't judge, yes this is yet another SJM series. But you'll forgive once you've met the Bat Boys, aka tall, handsome, powerful 500 year old warriors with (the pièce de résistance) wings. Any member of the Inner Circle is worth crushing on, however Cassian and Nesta have quickly become my favorites. Action, romance, and war come together to grasp your attention few books can seem to replicate.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

“I apologize for anything I might have done. I was not myself.” “I apologize for shooting you in the leg,” said Lila. “I was myself entirely.”

Schwab’s other novel, The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue has taken the world by storm but I think this series is where she really shines. I first read this series in 2019 and simply devoured every word. Schwab knows exactly how to keep you wanting more in all of her books. These just happen to be my favorite. Kell and Lila are absolutely stunning against a backdrop of war and deception. Plot lines are perfectly timed and shape some of the most underrated characters of all time.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

“Most of all, I hate you because I think of you. Often. It's disgusting, and I can't stop."

While entirely more YA than some others, this series was glorious. Black outdid herself with detailed writing and stunning characters. The world of Elfhame is so believable I'm this close to tracking down a Fae to take me over. Cardan and Jude are the epitome of enemies-to-lovers with a slow burn that just wont quit. With enemies and backstabbing allies around every corner it's almost hard to believe that managed to survive. This is a series that I have repeatedly reread and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

My only request, that Black releases several more stories about these two.
