Good food and good drinks, what more could a girl ask for?
Ok, I was a little nervous. I've realized I'm not the best at really looking at the menus before making reservations. That and I need time to look up 1/2 of what's on it to double-check that I'm not accidentally ordering ...[gulps]... haggis.
Not shaming anyone for their food choices, but I will abstain from ground organs steamed in other organs, for the time being, thank you very much!
So back to Howie's, I was a bit nervous that it would be touristy and cheesy, but I was wrong, yet again!
It's so cute inside with low lighting, high ceilings, and some of the friendliest staff. Also, tons of locals, a mix of families and couples, were there with me.
I started with a whiskey sour (a new favorite, try one!!); it was good but not as good as some back home. Their focaccia, on the other hand, was gone in seconds. It was almost embarrassing. For my main, I had venison and fries. I could've easily shared... or finished it myself if I didn't inhale so much bread beforehand.
I got an old fashioned for dessert because yet another espresso martini might have thrown me in the hospital for heart palpitations. Don't worry, I didn't stop there. I also got a creme brûlée to balance out all the alcohol.
While it wasn't my favorite, the actual custard was too warm and the sugar too thick, the espresso ice cream on top was!
I would quickly go back if this wasn't vacation and I had unlimited time to find places to eat.
