Who's in charge of my PTO?

If you’ve been paying close attention, you might have noticed that I’m deeply in love with The Holiday.

No, I don’t mean getting cheated on or dumped for a girl from circulation, but some future plans do include a Scottish cottage, a few Highland cows, young Jude Law, and a soundtrack made up of only the good notes.

I’m not going to lie; this holiday season brings up a rather vicious case “get-me out-of-here”. I can not believe that it’s nearly a year since my trip to Scotland and England. I loved my time there, yet hindsight is always 20-20. I wish I h

ad done more.

If there is anything I could take away from this year, it’s certainly these four lessons. That life is incredibly fragile. It’s better to feel life than simply pass through it. Healthy can be temporary, so don’t push off what you’d strive to do. There is only one way to live life, and it better be in the most vibrant way.

So in my near-monthly rewatch of The Holiday (I can nearly recite the entire film by heart, and trust me; I know how obnoxious that is!), it’s ever so obvious how realistic Iris and Amanda’s plans are. How “taking the leap” can be more rewarding than meticulously planned trips. However, they’re on to something (and no, not how a beautiful boyfriend can change everything, but also they’re not wr

ong) but how learning to appreciate life can help you feel alive again.

Even though my life is most definitely not what I would’ve wanted or wished for about a year ago, I’m learning that it’s ok. In some way, today is where I’m supposed to be. As uncomfortable as life could be, being there for whoever needs me is the best possible way to understand who I am and who I am supposed to be.

And I guess if that doesn’t work, have espresso martinis until you feel better. Or book a non-stop (potentially business class/one-way flight) to Europe. Just don’t forget your favorite books!
